SUSTAINABILITY
At OASIQ, we strive to provide the most exquisitely crafted, high-performance outdoor furnishings available on the market. To that end, we are incredibly careful with our material sourcing. The majority of the metal utilized in our furnishings is procured from Taiwan, which produces the bulk of the world’s most advanced semiconductors and is specially equipped to provide the most durable metal possible. In addition, 50% of the metal used in OASIQ furnishings is recycled or recyclable—a fact that has a variety of benefits. Metal recycling not only preserves natural resources by reducing the extraction of virgin raw materials but also conserves energy—recycled steel uses 60% less energy while recycled aluminum uses 95% less energy than manufacturing with crude resources.
Likewise, our extensive range of outdoor furnishings that employ teak now only utilize the renewable resource harvested from ecologically cultivated plantations. Our commitment remains to deliver durable, high-quality weather-resistant hardwood to both our residential and hospitality clients while contributing to the conservation of natural forests and the promotion of biodiversity.“Historically, we have sourced our teak from Southeast Asia and Indonesia under the highest standards, including government approvals, appropriate licenses, and FSC certification. However, with the rise in illegal logging and the decline of natural forests, we shifted our focus to more sustainable operations that adhere to rigorous environmental and social standards,” says Tony Peng, Managing Director of OASIQ. “Moreover, transitioning to exclusively employing plantation teak enables us to maintain superior quality control through optimized growth rates. In line with our dedication to sustainability, we achieved a significant milestone in 2023 by ensuring 75% of our packaging materials are either recycled or recyclable, and we have completely phased out the use of styrofoam.”
The advantages of using plantation teak are multifaceted. Plantation teak projects not only play a crucial role in carbon sequestration and the preservation of natural ecosystems, but they actively engage local communities—boosting employment opportunities and imparting valuable skills to the region. Furthermore, the increasing prevalence of responsibly managed teak plantations in areas with a history of deforestation not only safeguards the long-term viability of teak but also enhances market access for businesses that prioritize sustainably sourced materials.
Additionally, all of our products are BIFMA Certified—a voluntary standard instituted to ensure furniture is safe, durable, and performs exceptionally well. The criteria tested includes ergonomic measurements, sustainability guidelines, and performance testing, among others, for safety and buyer confidence purposes. At OASIQ, we make every effort to ensure our products are of the highest quality for any sector—from commercial to residential.
